About the vacancy
The University of Aruba is a young university and consists of four faculties, namely the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Accounting, Finance & Marketing, the Faculty of Hotel and Tourism Management Studies and the Faculty of Arts and Science. These faculties are supported by the offices & centers, of which one is the Research Center.
The Research Center aims to enable UA researchers to increase the impact of their research by improving the visibility and accessibility of their research outputs and supporting UA researchers in their research efforts. Additionally, the Research Center coordinates the Dutch Caribbean Digital Competence Network, or DCDC-Network.
The DCDC-Network starts in 2025 and promotes collaboration, shares expertise, and develops a vision towards Collective Knowledge in the Caribbean region. The DCDC-Network builds digital competence via peer-to-peer exchange, a training program, and facilitates strategic partnerships. The Network collectively works towards a more open and collaborative research data culture in the Dutch Caribbean.
Project Administrator
for the Dutch Caribbean Digital Competence (DCDC-) Network

Job description:
- You are responsible for planning and communicating the events and activities organized by the DCDC - Network, in collaboration with the Universities of Curaçao and St. Maarten;
- Together with the Network Coordinator, you are responsible for internal and external communication, including the translation of communication materials in Papiamento/u;
- Project and budget management of the Network;
- Reporting activities of network partners and the Network;
- You oversee and monitor the internal processes and identify areas for improvement in them;
- Catalyze connections and collaboration between researchers, industry and government researchers and stakeholders, policy makers, medical centers, training institutes, and interested citizens, to maintain and expand the DCDC-Network partners;
- Contribute to the research aims and challenges of the DCDC Network;
- Connect and collaborate with related projects and external communities (such as the Digital Heritage Network, Open Science Communities in the Netherlands, LCRDM network in the Netherlands, Wikipedia on Aruba).
Coordinate and facilitate the operational activities in the project.
These may include:
- Onboarding new network members via 1-1 meetings and maintaining the onboarding documentation for the network.
- Design, organize and facilitate inclusive events - remote and in person - for a broad range of Network members and collaborators. These can range from smaller working group meetings, informal network events to building community, informal mentorship and training, training sessions, and includes the annual Network-conference.
- Maintain existing resources and documentation, ensuring open communication within the Network.
- Curate and finalize regular newsletter updates to capture impact stories, showcase Network member contributions, and share progress for both internal and external audiences.
- Communicate via reports, blog posts, presentations, and taking an active role in meetings and discussions. Communications may be synchronous or asynchronous, remote or in person.
Job requirements:
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree that provides an understanding of the challenges in data science;
- Experience with event planning and communication;
- Experience building or contributing to networks, coalitions, or communities of practice that include people with a wide range of identities, disciplines, and perspectives
- Experience in budget management;
- Excellent verbal and written command in at least two of the following languages: English, Papiamento and/or Dutch. Spanish is a plus.
- Experience with various learning & communication platforms and social media such as Canva, LinkedIn;
- Excellent IT-skills in MS Office & Google (such as Word, PowerPoint, Google Drive, Mail).

- Relationship building/networking ability;
- Collaboration and teamwork;
- You have a flexible attitude; you may occasionally be required to perform work outside office hours or some travelling for the events organized may be needed.
- Able to work independently and with minimal supervision;
- Can switch to perform a wide range of different activities and processes.

- A 0.4 fte position with a contract for one year, which may be extended with good performance with a contract for the project’s duration.
