Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Supervision

• Supervise and monitor all bar staff, ensuring consistent adherence to hotel policies and service standards
• Conduct daily pre-shift briefings as needed
• Ensure proper grooming, punctuality, and attendance of all team members
• Review daily staffing needs and assign job responsibilities accordingly
• Provide coaching, counseling, and fair discipline in alignment with company standards
• Lead by example in all areas of service and professionalism

Operations & Compliance

• Oversee daily operations to ensure smooth and efficient service
• Monitor compliance with health, safety, and hygiene regulations
• Ensure workstations are clean, well-stocked, and organized
• Conduct walkthroughs using the Supervisor Checklist and address any outstanding issues
• Monitor bar environments at the beginning and throughout shifts to ensure readiness and guest satisfaction
• Check the functionality of bar equipment (telephones, POS systems, etc.); report issues via proper work orders and follow up with Engineering

Training & Development

• Train and orient all new bar employees on Standard Operating Procedures and service expectations
• Provide ongoing training and refreshers to ensure excellence in service and beverage preparation
• Observe, coach, and evaluate staff performance; retrain as necessary to maintain standards
• Gather employee feedback regularly and take appropriate follow-up action

Inventory & Cost Control

• Conduct monthly beverage inventory in coordination with the Cost Controller
• Monitor beverage costs and par levels; make adjustments as needed
• Track and manage working equipment inventory monthly
• Oversee and approve beverage requisitions to ensure accurate stock levels

Guest Experience

• Engage with guests regularly to ensure satisfaction with beverages and service quality
• Monitor and control garnishes, recipe consistency, and bar presentation
• Develop and maintain an updated recipe list of top 100 cocktails
• Address guest concerns professionally and promptly
• Implement and enforce Alcohol Awareness guidelines when dealing with intoxicated guests

Events & Promotions

• Review and distribute the calendar of special events and promotions
• Collaborate with the Food & Beverage Manager on event preparation and service coordination
• Review daily VIP and group reports to anticipate service needs

Administrative Duties

• Prepare and submit payroll documentation for bar staff
• Maintain accurate logs, including checklists, guest feedback, and maintenance reports
• Report guest or staff accidents/incidents immediately in line with hotel protocol
• Maintain security standards for all open and closed bars
• Review beverage coupons and monitor non-all-inclusive guest consumption

Accountability

The Head Bartender is accountable for:

• Ensuring high service standards and compliance across the department
• Conducting regular standard reviews and communicating expectations to the team
• Identifying non-compliance issues and developing action plans
• Working closely with the Food & Beverage Manager on performance improvement and training needs
• Supporting team members by stepping into operational roles when required

• And any other reasonable request by Management.

Requirements and Qualifications

• EPI/MBO Diploma with 5 years of experience as (Assistant Head) Bartender
• Fluent in English, Spanish and Dutch
• 30 years and older
• Service minded
• Great leadership skills
• Great computer skills
• Has a valid Health card
• Has a Dutch Passport or a valid work permit
